Location: Silver Horn Ranches are located 14 miles west of Barksdale in Edwards County and feature the Texas Hill Country’s two greatest attributes...unparalleled beauty and fantastic hunting. Access is on CR 350, which is 2.5 miles north of Barksdale on State Highway 55.
Description: Each ranch offers the opportunity to own a secluded and private ranch that benefits from a well organized game management program and large neighbors (some as large as 68,000 acres). Property owners get hunting opportunities and tax advantages that have previously been available only to large land owners. Silver Horn Ranches encompass over 8500 acres. Phase III which is our last group of ranches to be offered range from 100 to 500 acres in size and have all-weather roads, electricity and stock/wildlife water available to them. Scenic hilltops provide home sites with the panoramic views and privacy that the Hill Country is famous for, and each ranch is heavily wooded and has excellent wildlife habitat.
Wildlife: Wildlife thrives under the Silver Horn Landowners Association (SHLA) stewardship (est. 2004) and includes whitetail deer, turkey, hogs and free-ranging exotics. Each year the biologist for the SHLA sets harvest goals for property owners that benefit the long term health of wildlife and property owner’s investment.
Water: Agricultural water is furnished to each tract by the SHLA private water system.
Improvements: A great all-weather road, maintained by SHLA, provides access to all ranches. Electricity is furnished to each ranch by Pedernales Electric Co-op (888-554-4732). Phone service is provided by SW TX Telephone Company in Rocksprings (803-683-2111).
Minerals: No minerals will be conveyed with the property purchase.
Remarks: With landowners cooperating in the wildlife management program conceived by SHLA, the hunting has proven phenomenal on the Silver Horn Ranches. Taxes have been approximately $.80 per acre/ per year on an agricultural basis. Membership in the SHLA allows owners to maintain a 1-D-1 Wildlife Exemption and Agricultural Tax Status.
